What Exactly Is The Free Grants Scheme?
Free Grants are one of many measures available from the current Government Grant Scheme known as Eco 4.
This 100% Free Scheme focuses on upgrading old heating for people on low income & means tested benefits.

How to Tell If Your Boiler Is Non-Condensing
Not sure what type of boiler you have? Look out for these three signs:
- Installed Before 2005
Most boilers fitted before 2005 are non-condensing and less energy efficient. - Low Efficiency Rating
If your boiler’s ERP rating is 84.6% or lower, it’s likely a non-condensing model. - No White Plastic Condensate Pipe
Condensing boilers have a white plastic pipe beneath them (alongside copper pipes) to drain condensed water. If your boiler lacks this pipe, it’s probably non-condensing.
Who can Apply?
✅ Homeowner or private tenant (Living with Home Owner).
✅ Property’s EPC rating is lower than D, E, F, or G.
✅ You receive qualifying Government benefits.
✅ Gas meter installed before April 2022 (if not, you can qualify for an Air Source Heat Pump grant)
✅ The existing boiler is older than 2005 and is of non-condensing type.
✅ You have no boiler installed previously.
Properties Not Eligible for the Grant
The following types of properties do not qualify for this grant:

- 🏘️ Homes rented to local authorities
- 🏚️ Council-owned or social housing
- 🏕️ Park homes or mobile homes
